My first role in the legal sector was as a trainee Legal Secretary on one day a week day release from college for a small firm based in Surrey. I learned so many valuable organisational skills that I still call on as tools to support me today. From there I went on to a large London law firm to continue as a Legal Secretary before recognising that I required more variety in the work I did. With the background I had in this sector, I was fortunate enough to be offered an IT Training position with a large global law firm that were prepared to train me up in this area before allowing me loose on their international offices. After 4 years, I moved across to their project team as the role naturally leant itself to be involved in the set up of offices, training and closure of offices as well as many mini projects on the way. Moving on from here after 7 fabulous years, I decided Programme and Project Management across all business areas was for me, next stop Project methodology certifications and then off to what has been my future for the last 20+ years.
Some of the projects I have been involved in, in the private sector have been to relocate a head office, logistics for office closures working with suppliers of services, office fit outs including meeting room acoustics, facilities management strategy looking specifically at efficiencies and smarter service in this area. Consultation and implementation of Knowledge Management, Document Management, Client Relationship and Practice Management projects. In the public sector, more strategic Customer Service and Property Service programmes of work aligning cross department projects with the business strategy.
